3 days it has taken to change an upper oil pan gasket, and it still isn’t done. I’m slightly upset. I believe I will be calling VW of America, because this shouldn’t be taking this long, and the lack of communication has been ridiculous .

Kinja'd!!!

For reference I’ve been in a loaner for over a week now.

That sucks man, I would hate that.  I am super protective of my ST and my D100 and I imagine you are of your GTI.

If the part isn’t in stock and it has to come from a regional or national distro center, 3 days isn’t that long. If you made an appointment in advance and had a decent service writer or mechanic, they’d have ordered it ahead of time. If you walked in for the repair, there’s not a lot they could’ve done.

They’ve HAD the part since Monday.

And an appointment was made. They repaired the wrong thing the first time on Friday, kept the car for the weekend, got the part on Monday, then had a day off, and then started on Wednesday.

Lack of communication absolutely kills me. I understand that delays happen, but tell me about them! Don’t make me keep calling you.

Wait, upper oilpan gasket?

Is this engine a bedplate design?

Okay, somebody needs to take the AutoCAD licenses away from VAG’s engine group.

Now, please.

If they used AutoCAD, it might be simpler because complex is harder to draw. I think VAG uses NX, where modeling and detailing seriously complex things is easy! (Sometimes very unfortunately, particularly with green engineers.)
